Product description

Introduction

Chateau Cantemerle 2001 is a distinguished red wine from France, hailing from the Haut Medoc appellation within the historic Medoc region. As one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux with roots dating back to the 13th century, Cantemerle is celebrated for being the final addition to the prestigious 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Currently managed by the SMABTP Group, the estate follows a philosophy of refined elegance, utilizing silica and gravel soils to produce wines that serve as a benchmark for the region.

Wine Description

This 2001 vintage presents an elegant, deep garnet colour with subtle tile-coloured hints at the rim, reflecting its mature status. The aromatic profile is classic and expressive, featuring resinous notes of liquorice and cashew alongside cassis, blackberry, tobacco, and dried herbs. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and supple, showcasing a harmonious blend of red currants, black cherry, and spice supported by sweet, silky tannins. The varietal composition is a traditional Bordeaux blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot. Characterized by its balance and 'feminine' grace, the wine is currently in its peak drinking form, offering a lively and satisfying finish.
