Product description
This certified organic dry white wine originates from France, produced by the historic Château des Annereaux on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region. Situated in the Lalande-de-Pomerol area, the estate has belonged to the same family for over six centuries, dating back to the 14th century. Managed today by Benjamin Hessel, the property converted fully to certified organic agriculture (Ecocert) in 2007. While the château is primarily famed for its red Lalande-de-Pomerol wines, their small-production Bordeaux Blanc cuvée (L'L's des Annereaux / Les Annereaux) reflects a commitment to biodiverse farming and low-intervention winemaking, harnessing the gravelly alluvial soils near the Isle River to create a vibrant, expressive white wine.
Wine Description
In the glass, the 2024 vintage presents a bright pale yellow color with sparkling greenish highlights. The expressive nose opens with lively aromas of citrus zest, crisp green apple, white peach, and grapefruit, accompanied by herbal nuances of crushed boxwood leaves, lemongrass, and subtle wet stone minerality. On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium-bodied, precise, and crisp. A vibrant streak of high natural acidity drives the entry, giving way to a smooth mid-palate and a clean, refreshing, saline-tinged finish. Typically crafted from a blend dominated by Sauvignon Blanc with a smaller proportion of Semillon (and occasionally Sauvignon Gris), the hand-harvested organic grapes undergo gentle pneumatic pressing and cool fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is aged on its fine lees without oak influence to maintain its energetic fruit purity. The alcohol by volume typically sits around 12.5% to 13.0%.
Food Pairing
The crisp citrus drive, bright acidity, and refreshing energy of this organic white Bordeaux make it a versatile pairing for seafood, goat cheese, and light summer dishes. Excellent culinary partners include fresh oysters on the half shell, grilled sea bass with lemon-herb butter, shrimp ceviche, tuna carpaccio, and seared scallops. It also pairs wonderfully with classic goat milk cheeses like Crottin de Chavignol, fresh salads with lemon vinaigrette, and asparagus risotto.
Vintage Quality
The 2024 growing season in Bordeaux yielded classic cool-climate proportions for dry white wines, characterized by moderate temperatures and balanced rainfall that preserved elevated natural acidity and vivid fruit aromatics. Grown in organically managed soils, the grapes achieved balanced maturity while maintaining exceptional freshness and tension. The 2024 Château des Annereaux Blanc offers immediate charm, bright citrus intensity, and mouthwatering refreshment, best enjoyed in its youth over the next 2 to 4 years.
