In certain cases, ZYN is unable to guarantee vintages due to the Alberta Government distribution system. ZYN will do its best to ensure that the vintages on its website are updated and accurate. If ZYN cannot fulfill your order with the requested vintage, you will be contacted and you may choose to either accept the available vintage or cancel the product.
For more information email email@example.com or call (403) 543-8900.
All deliveries within Calgary will be fulfilled and delivered by ZYN, with some exceptions.
For any deliveries outside of Calgary, we will use a courier. It is preferred that you use a business address for shipping, but we can ship to most residential addresses and some rural addresses. Due to some courier restrictions, we cannot ship to PO boxes.
ZYN does not itself ship outside of Alberta. However, if you request delivery outside of Alberta, you authorize us to engage a shipper on your behalf to pick up your order from our store and deliver it as you instructed. You are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with the applicable laws of the place where you have directed the courier to deliver your order.
We primarily use a specialized courier that uses temperature-controlled vehicles. Shipping during the winter and summer months is inherently risky. Please be aware that ZYN will delay shipping if we feel that there is a chance your package may be affected by extreme weather conditions.
Breakage, Damage and Loss
ZYN takes every reasonable precaution to package your order for safe delivery, and virtually all packages are delivered intact. Shipping is not, however, risk free. Once we have packaged your order in accordance with our normal practices, and have delivered your package to the courier, our liability ends. For your protection, every order is automatically insured to a maximum of $3.50 per pound of the scaled weight for breakage, damage or loss, regardless of the order value. Weight, though, may not be an adequate measure of value, depending on the order. We are therefore offering you the option of purchasing full protection for a fee, at the checkout page. Note that claims for damaged or broken products must be made within 4 days of delivery. Lost packages will be dealt with on an individual basis.
ZYN mainly ships using ATS Healthcare and Canada Post. ATS offers delivery in temperature-controlled vehicles.
ATS and Canada Post will deliver to a business or residential address. If possible, ZYN recommends shipping to a business address for the following reasons:
1. Someone of legal drinking age must be at the address to receive the package.
2. If no one is home after two delivery attempts, there will be an additional $15.00 charge for the third attempt.
ZYN's goal is to ensure that all of our customers are satisfied with their orders. Should you need to return an item for any reason, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The following criteria apply in most cases:
1. If the item(s) is in saleable condition, the purchase price will be refunded within 30 days of the purchase date. If the item has been shipped outside Calgary, the shipping charges are the responsibility of the purchaser.
2. Faulty items will be evaluated on an individual basis before a decision is made.
3. There is an inherent risk in buying older wines. While we store all of our wines properly, wines may nevertheless be defective. We regret that we cannot accept wines more than seven years old and cost in excess of $100 unless the producer agrees to replace the wine.
A re-stocking fee may apply.

With the 2019 vintage, we aimed to preserve Chateau Giscours' signature style, its power and structure while at the same time working on two characteristics that we especially appreciate: the aromatic palette and the finesse of the tannins. The Merlot revealed different features depending on the terroir and the harvest date. Some were juicy, fruity, and bursting with freshness, while others, with a more advanced degree of ripeness, presented a magnificent roundness and a much more voluptuous character.
For the Cabernet, we decided to delay harvesting to achieve complete maturity of the skins and, therefore, of the tannins. In the winery, we modified our extraction approach to focus on the delicacy of the tannins. Maceration was based more on the duration of contact between juice and skins than on the extraction intensity.
Our decisions were guided by tasting at every step. The objective was to give the Cabernet the desired three-dimensional character with structure, freshness and density. Very precise and well-balanced, the 2019 vintage gives full expression to the Chateau Giscours' refined style.
97 Points - James Suckling
Walnut and cocoa powder. Crushed stones, too. It's complete and layered with round tannins and a juicy and plush texture. Crushed velvet that turns to silk. Very cool and long. Plenty going on here. Give it three to four years to come together. But will age beautifully for years to come. A blend of 65% cabernet sauvignon and 35% merlot.
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2019 Giscours has turned out very well in the bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries, burning embers, lilac and violets framed by a discreet patina of new oak. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's polished and aromatic, with a velvety, seamless profile and bright animating acids, concluding with a long, resonant finish. Alexandre Van Beek and his team are taking this estate to heights it hasn't hit since the 1970s, and this is another of the great bargains of the 2019 en primeur campaign.
94+ Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Checking in as a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, the 2019 Chateau Giscours is one heck of an impressive Margaux. Deep purple-hued, with a great nose of black and blue fruits and sappy herbs, tobacco, and flowers, it has nicely integrated oak, medium to full body, ripe yet certainly present tannins, and an excellent finish. It's beautifully done. Hide bottles for 4-6 years and enjoy them over the next two decades.
94 Points - Decanter
This is a serious Giscours, with medium intensity violet-edged ruby colour. High aromatics on the nose with cumin and cloves, black cherry and cassis fruits that fill the palate, and a cooling menthol finish as the tannins close in—enjoyable overall, succulent yet precise. Harvest lasted an entire month, from September 11 to October 12, the longest ever at the estate and a reflection of more precise plot-by-plot work, with vines separated according to age and terroir.
93 Points - Wine Spectator
Solid for the vintage, with a new edge to the mix of black currant, blackberry and fig paste flavours. This wine's energy extends through the finish, where humus, singed cedar, and savoury and iron-tinged minerality add range and cut. It still shows the vintage's excessive heat, but this manages it better than most of its peers. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
