This structured and 'aristocratic' red wine originates from France, within the prestigious Fronsac A.O.C. appellation on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region. Produced by Château La Dauphine an historic estate whose origins date back to 1670 and which hosted Maria Josepha of Saxony, the Dauphine of France and mother of King Louis XVI this property stands today as one of Fronsac’s premier biodynamic icons. Sourced from 53 hectares of certified organic and biodynamic estate vineyards, the vines average over 30 years of age and are planted across a dramatic amphitheater of clay-limestone plateau and molasse soil terraces overlooking the Dordogne River. Fronsac's maritime-influenced temperate climate features long, sun-drenched growing seasons moderated by river currents, allowing Merlot and Cabernet Franc to achieve complete phenolic maturity, rich skin concentration, and noble structural balance.

Wine Description

Château La Dauphine presents an opaque, deep garnet-purple color in the glass with vivid crimson and violet reflections along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an expansive, precise, and sophisticated portrait of Right Bank limestone terroir. The bouquet opens with a soaring display of crushed black plums, dark dark cherries, and wild blackberries, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of fresh violets, pipe tobacco, crushed chalk minerality, cedar, and dark cocoa nibs. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, sleek, and athletic, showcasing a succulent core of dark berry compote, licorice, blood orange zest, and graphite. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly across the mid-palate fruit density. The mouthfeel is broad, silky, and linear, framed by firm, fine-grained, and chalky tannins that glide into an extraordinarily long, dry, and mineral-driven finish accented by persistent notes of iron, black pepper, and subtle oak spice.
