Chateau La Mission Haut Brion 2019 is a prestigious red wine from the Pessac Leognan appellation in the Graves region of Bordeaux, France. Since 1983, the estate has been owned by the Dillon family of Domaine Clarence Dillon, who also own the neighbouring Chateau Haut-Brion. The winery’s philosophy focuses on precise parcel management and high vine density to produce intense wines that express the unique gravel and limestone terroir of its historic 25-hectare vineyard.
Wine Description
This vintage displays a beautiful, deep purple-red or crimson colour. The intense nose offers a complex bouquet of raspberry, blackberry, and wild plums, underpinned by signature notes of scorched earth, cedar pencil, and graphite. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and opulent, featuring a dense mid-palate with juicy, velvety tannins and flavours of black fruit and liquorice. It is a powerful yet agile wine with remarkable balance and a long, expansive finish. The varietal composition is a blend of 53% Merlot, 39.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7.5% Cabernet Franc. The optimal drinking window is approximately between 2032 and 2062, though some critics suggest it can age for 40 years or more.
