Product description

Introduction

This exceptional white wine originates from France, specifically the Châteauneuf du Pape region in the Southern Rhône Valley. Château La Nerthe is one of the oldest estates in the appellation, with a winemaking history dating back to 1560 and a reputation for being among the first to bottle and export its own wines. Since 1985, the estate has been owned by the Richard family, who have focused on precise viticulture and restoring the property's glorious past. The winery's philosophy centres on a deep respect for nature, having been a pioneer of organic farming in the region and receiving Ecocert certification in 1998.

Wine Description

The 2023 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc presents a pale golden colour with delicate green reflections. The bouquet is complex and multi-layered, initially revealing aromas of ripe orchard fruits, lemon zest, and fresh almond, which are followed by floral notes of jasmine, honeysuckle, and acacia. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, offering an opulent and fleshy texture with flavours of spiced apples, blanched almonds, and honeyed citrus.

The varietal composition for this vintage is approximately 44% Roussanne, 41% Grenache Blanc, 11% Clairette, and 4% Bourboulenc. Stylistically, it demonstrates a masterful balance of lushness and freshness, featuring integrated oak nuances and a persistent, slightly minty finish. While it offers immediate pleasure, this wine is built for evolution, with an optimal drinking window between 2024 and 2034.
