Product description

Originating from France in the prestigious Bordeaux region, specifically within the iconic Margaux subregion, Chateau Lascombes 2022 represents a distinguished Second Growth (Deuxieme Grand Cru Classe) from the historical 1855 Classification. The estate traces its origins back to the 17th century with the Lascombes family and has evolved through centuries of refining its terroir-driven approach. Today, under the ownership of Lawrence Wine Estates, Chateau Lascombes blends centuries of Medoc winemaking tradition with modern precision to produce opulent, highly expressive wines from its diverse gravel, clay, and limestone soils.

Wine Description

The wine presents an inky, saturated ruby purple colour in the glass. The bouquet opens with vibrant aromas of dark cassis, wild blueberry, and damson plum, underpinned by complex hints of crushed rocks, violets, espresso, liquorice, and toasted cedar spice. On the palate, it is broad, lush, and full bodied, delivering rich layers of black cherry compote, dark chocolate, and graphite. Supported by a firm backbone of fine, velvety tannins and a streak of refreshing acidity, it lingers through an extraordinarily long, mineral-inflected finish. Composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon alongside Merlot and small portions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, this release offers an optimal drinking window of 2028–2055. Stylistically, it combines classic Margaux aromatic elegance with remarkable fruit concentration, structural power, and creamy texture.
