Product description

Produced in France, specifically at the southern edge of the Pauillac appellation in the Médoc, this wine is the Grand Vin of the legendary Château Latour. Rated as a First Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, the estate's history dates back to 1331, with its modern reputation forged under the Ségur family in the 18th century. Currently owned by François Pinault through Groupe Artémis, the winery follows a philosophy of extreme precision, and the 2001 vintage holds particular significance as the first wine produced in the estate's then-new, state-of-the-art cellar facility.

Wine Description

This 2001 vintage presents a saturated ruby-purple colour that remains deep and virile even with age. The nose is highly expressive and complex, unfurling with aromas of crème de cassis, blackberry, and dried orange peel, layered with classic notes of graphite, cedar, and earthy truffles. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and impeccably balanced, showcasing a refined structure with fine yet rigid tannins and crisp acidity. Stylistically, it is celebrated for its elegance and controlled power, moving away from the 'blockbuster' style of 2000 toward a more racy and aromatic profile. The final blend consists of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. It has gracefully entered its plateau of maturity and is expected to drink beautifully through 2052.
