Product description

Château Le Pin 2004 originates from France, within the Bordeaux region and the prestigious Pomerol subregion. Owned and operated by the Thienpont family since 1979, the estate spans a tiny 2.7-hectare parcel situated on a well-drained, sunny gravel-and-clay plateau near Château Trotanoy. Celebrated globally as a pioneer of boutique, low-yield winemaking, Le Pin produces extraordinarily limited quantities each year. The estate's operational philosophy prioritizes meticulous hand-craftsmanship, extreme vineyard selection, and minimal cellar intervention. In 2004, a classic and cooler vintage in Bordeaux, Le Pin produced a wine of remarkable elegance, aromatic complexity, and structural harmony.

Wine Description

This red wine displays a mature, deep ruby-garnet appearance with soft brick-red reflections toward the rim. It possesses a full-bodied, suave, and well-integrated structure defined by a silky, fluid, and mouth-coating texture. The sensory profile is beautifully aged and fragrant, opening with an inviting bouquet of ripe red currants, dried plums, and dark cherries, interwoven with complex tertiary notes of damp forest floor, truffle, leather, cigar box, espresso, and subtle toasted oak spice. On the palate, it delivers a harmonious balance of sweet, evolved fruit and fine, fully resolved tannins, supported by a gentle line of lingering natural acidity. The finish is long, graceful, and refined, leaving a clean, savory impression of cedar, dark cocoa, and dried herbs.

  • Varietal Composition: 100% Merlot.

  • Stylistic Notes: The grapes were hand-picked and carefully sorted before undergoing fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation directly in 100% new French oak barrels and aged for approximately 18 to 20 months prior to being bottled unfiltered to preserve its textural depth.
