Product description
Château Le Pin 2021 originates from France, within the Bordeaux region and the prestigious Pomerol subregion. Owned by the Thienpont family since 1979, this microscopic estate—spanning just 2.7 hectares on a well-drained gravel-and-clay plateau near Château Trotanoy—is widely regarded as the ultimate expression of artisanal, boutique winemaking. The operational philosophy focuses on extreme attention to detail, tiny yields, and minimal intervention. In a challenging vintage like 2021, Jacques Thienpont and winemaker Alexandre Thienpont utilized rigorous selection and modern cellar precision to showcase the unique purity, aromatic elegance, and silkiness that define this iconic Right Bank estate.
Wine Description
This red wine exhibits a bright, deep ruby-purple appearance in the glass. It possesses a medium-to-full-bodied structure characterized by remarkable finesse, energy, and a seamless, satin-like texture. The sensory profile is incredibly perfumed and precise, opening with an expressive nose of fresh red cherries, wild raspberries, cassis, and crushed plums, interwoven with delicate nuances of violet flowers, fresh mint, graphite, pencil shavings, and subtle toasted oak spice. On the palate, it delivers a pure, focused core of vibrant red and dark fruits balanced by a bright, refreshing natural acidity and ultra-refined, fine-grained tannins. The finish is remarkably long, airy, and persistent, culminating in a clean, mineral, and sophisticated aftertaste.
Varietal Composition: 100% Merlot.
Stylistic Notes: In 2021, the estate adjusted its oak program to match the cooler, more linear nature of the vintage, aging the wine in approximately 70% to 80% new French oak barrels (a departure from the usual 100% new oak). The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in oak and was aged with minimal intervention to preserve its pristine, fresh fruit profile and floral aromatics.
