Product description

Produced in France, specifically within the Saint Julien appellation of the Médoc region in Bordeaux, this wine is the Grand Vin of the historic Château Leoville Las Cases. One of the oldest and largest estates in the Médoc, it was once the heart of a vast domaine that was divided in the 19th century, leading to its 1855 classification as a Second Growth. Under the dedicated ownership of the Delon family, the winery is managed with a philosophy that treats its unique terroir—situated adjacent to the First Growth Château Latour—with the same rigour and precision as the region's top-tier estates.

Wine Description

The 2004 vintage displays a deep ruby-red hue with purple highlights, maintaining a remarkable youthfulness as it nears its third decade. The nose is aromatic and complex, offering layers of blackcurrant, black cherry, and blackberry intertwined with sophisticated notes of cedar, tobacco, graphite, and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with a round, velvety texture and firm, granular tannins that reflect its masculine structure. It is celebrated for its balanced acidity and fresh, poised style, leading to a long finish characterized by mineral and peppery notes. Composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, and 11% Cabernet Franc, this wine has entered its secondary stage of maturity and is expected to drink beautifully through 2040.
