Château Léoville Las Cases 2022 originates from France, within the Bordeaux region and the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation on the Left Bank. Managed by the Delon family (Domaines Delon) and directed by Jean-Hubert Delon, this legendary estate—officially classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) in 1855—is universally recognized as operating at First Growth quality levels. The vineyard’s crown jewel is L'Enclos, an 80-hectare walled parcel featuring deep quaternary gravel and clay soils overlooking the Gironde estuary, directly adjacent to Château Latour. The estate's winemaking philosophy relies on rigorous parcel selection, moderate extraction ("infusion over extraction"), and precise balance. In the historic 2022 vintage, Léoville Las Cases delivered a monument of power, vertical precision, and unusual youthful charm.

Wine Description

This red wine presents an opaque, inky ruby-purple appearance in the glass with vibrant violet reflections. It possesses a full-bodied, deeply concentrated, and multi-dimensional structure underpinned by an extraordinary mineral tension and seamless, cashmere-like texture. The sensory profile is intense and brilliantly delineated, opening with an intoxicating bouquet of cassis, black cherries, wild blueberries, and crushed violets, layered over signature notes of graphite, pencil lead, Cuban tobacco, cedar, crushed stones, and subtle Asian spices. On the palate, it exhibits a massive, fruit-dense core balanced by a surprisingly fresh, cool thread of acidity and a wall of ultra-polished, fine-grained tannins. The finish is endless, extending past the 60-second mark with lingering notes of dark fruits, licorice, and stony minerality.

• Varietal Composition: 83.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10.5% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Merlot. Notably, this vintage features a rare higher proportion of Cabernet Franc than Merlot in the Grand Vin.

• Stylistic Notes: Hand-harvested between September 8 and September 30. The wine underwent precise fermentation with consultant Eric Boissenot, followed by aging for 18 months in 84–85% new French oak barrels.
