Product description
Château Mouton Rothschild is one of Bordeaux’s most iconic First Growth (Premier Grand Cru Classé) estates, elevated in 1973 under the leadership of Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Located on the gravel ridges of Pauillac, Mouton is famed worldwide for its exotic opulence, immense power, and the celebrated artistic labels that grace every vintage.
The 2023 release is particularly notable for its viticultural precision under Technical Director Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy. It features one of the highest proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon in the history of the Grand Vin, producing a classic yet vibrant expression of this world-class terroir.
Wine Description
The Château Mouton Rothschild 2023 displays an intense, deep garnet-purple color. On the nose, it is strikingly expressive and complex, unveiling a concentrated core of cassis, fresh blackcurrant, wild blueberry, and damson, layered with exotic notes of cocoa bean, pencil graphite, cigar box, crushed mint, and sweet spices.
On the palate, the wine balances opulent fruit with a steely, vertical structure. Medium- to full-bodied, it delivers remarkable purity, depth, and energy. The broad, velvety tannins build seamlessly across the palate, carrying cool blue and black fruits alongside a refined mineral tension.
The blend consists of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot (with an alcohol level of 13.3%). Aged entirely in 100% new French oak barrels, this long-lived vintage offers a harmonious balance of richness and freshness. Built to age effortlessly, it will benefit from cellaring through 2033 to 2065+.
