Product description
Introduction
This red wine comes from France, specifically the Saint Estephe appellation in the northern Médoc region of Bordeaux. The estate has a storied history dating back to the 18th century and was acquired in 1940 by Jean Charles Cazes, whose family also owns the renowned Chateau Lynch Bages. Today, Jean Charles Cazes directs the property, maintaining a winemaking philosophy that balances modern techniques with traditional savoir-faire to produce harmonious wines that authentically express their gravelly terroir.
Wine Description
The 2020 vintage is a blend of 54% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby to garnet purple colour. The nose is highly aromatic, offering notes of plum preserves, black cherry, and red currants alongside nuances of graphite, toasted spice, and dried mint. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied and structured, with a core of dark berries balanced by a 'piercing iron' mineral note and polished, firm tannins. It is characterized by its vibrancy and poise, finishing with a lingering fragrant earth and saline quality. This wine is best enjoyed from 2024 through 2040.
