Product description
Château Pétrus 2007 originates from France, within the Bordeaux region and the iconic Pomerol subregion. Owned by the Moueix family (Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix), Pétrus stands on an extraordinary 11.4-hectare plateau characterized by an exclusive mound of blue clay (argile bleue) that dates back over 40 million years. This unique soil retain moisture during dry spells and imparts an unmistakable richness and velvety tannic structure to the wine. Operating without a grand "château" structure, the estate's philosophy focuses entirely on hyper-rigorous vineyard management, hand-sorting, and low-yield precision to express the purest, most profound incarnation of Pomerol Merlot.
Wine Description
This red wine displays a rich, mature deep garnet appearance with dark ruby undertones and subtle amber reflections near the rim. It possesses a full-bodied, opulent, and broad-shouldered structure framed by a remarkably smooth, seamless, and mouth-filling texture. The sensory profile is highly aromatic and deep, opening with a seductive bouquet of black cherry jam, black plum, cassis, and mulberries, interwoven with intricate secondary nuances of dark truffle, black tea, mocha, damp earth, cigar box, and sweet spice. On the palate, it delivers a dense, concentrated core of sweet dark fruit held together by soft, velvety tannins and a supple, balanced freshness. The finish is extraordinarily long, expansive, and noble, leaving a persistent impression of dark cocoa, dried flowers, and savory mineral earthiness.
Varietal Composition: 100% Merlot.
Stylistic Notes: Destemmed and hand-sorted with extreme care, the grapes undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete vats. The wine ages for approximately 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels (traditionally 50% new oak in cooler vintages like 2007 to avoid overwhelming the delicate fruit) before being bottled without filtration.
