Chateau Petrus 2021

Chateau Petrus 2021 is a red wine from the Pomerol appellation on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France. Held by the Moueix family since the mid-20th century, the estate is currently managed by Jean-François Moueix, with winemaking led by Technical Director Olivier Berrouet. The winery is world-renowned for its unique 11.4-hectare vineyard situated on a 'buttonhole' of rare blue clay, a terroir that allows the estate to produce one of the most concentrated and iconic expressions of Merlot in existence.

Wine Description

This vintage displays a deep, medium-to-dark purple-black colour. The aromatic profile is distinct from recent warmer years, offering a 'cool and linear' nose of sweet cherries, raspberries, and kirsch, layered with sophisticated notes of rose oil, licorice, and black truffle. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and finessed, characterized by a vibrant saline energy and fine-grained, powdery tannins. Stylistically, it focuses on harmony and grace rather than sheer volume, delivering a long, sapid finish with hints of Chinese five-spice and graphite. The varietal composition is 100% Merlot. The projected optimal drinking window for this vintage is between 2028 and 2061.
