Produced in Canada, this exceptional Chardonnay originates from the Jagged Rock Vineyard nestled on the Black Sage Bench within the Okanagan Valley. Established in 2013 by visionary Anthony von Mandl, Checkmate Artisanal Winery was created with the bold ambition of producing world class wines that showcase the unique glacial terroir of British Columbia. The winemaking philosophy, led by winemaker Spencer Kelly, focuses on small batch production and minimal intervention to allow the natural elegance and mineral driven profile of the fruit to shine through.

Wine Description

This Chardonnay presents a pale straw colour in the glass. The nose is intricate and vibrant, revealing a captivating bouquet of rosewater, peach blossoms, and melon, layered with delicate notes of pear, lemon curd, and a fine hint of struck match reductivity. On the palate, the wine is fresh and elegant, offering a delicious combination of citrus, peach, and lime rind, complemented by nuances of green tea, vanilla, and a distinct mineral salinity. It possesses a full body and a firm, slightly phenolic mouthfeel, leading to a simple, clean, yet remarkably lengthy finish dusted with fennel.
