Chevessac Pineau des Charentes Privilege Rose is a prestigious fortified liqueur wine from the Cognac region of France. Produced by the renowned Merlet Distillery, also known as Distillerie Merlet & Fils, the estate has a long-standing family tradition of quality control and expertise dating back to 1850. This 'mistelle' is crafted through the 'mutage' process, where the fermentation of fresh grape must is halted by the addition of Cognac eau-de-vie, reflecting a centuries-old winemaking heritage unique to the Charente terroir.

Wine Description

This Rose Pineau presents an intense red colour with copper highlights and brown tinges. The nose is powerful and expressive, dominated by vibrant aromas of red fruits, specifically raspberry and Morello cherry, with underlying notes of subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is supple, generous, and velvety, offering a harmonious blend of red fruit flavours and delicate spicy accents. It is a complex, medium-to-full-bodied liqueur with an alcohol content typically around 17% and a long, aromatic finish. Crafted primarily from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, it is aged in oak barrels to achieve its signature depth. While it can be enjoyed young for its fresh fruit, it possesses a significant drinking window and can be aged for 2 to 20 years.
