The Abruzzo’s classic red. Montepulciano is an under-appreciated workhorse (in fact the second most planted red variety in Italy!). Chiusa Grande delivers accurate and delicious wines that exemplify the ideals of natural balance and respect for tradition.
This bottling is an example of how a low intervention, unencumbered wine can be crowd pleasing, instantly crushable, and available at a great price. Black cherry, plum skins, third-wave coffee, and a hint of tobacco make this a terrific pairing for meaty pizzas, lasagna, or even burgers.
