Citadelle Gin Rouge

Citadelle Gin Rouge is an artisanal fruit-infused dry gin originating from the Cognac region in Southwest France. The spirit is produced by the renowned Maison Ferrand at Château de Bonbonnet in Ars, France. Alexandre Gabriel, Master Distiller and founder of Maison Ferrand, launched Citadelle in 1996 as France's first craft gin, pioneering the use of traditional open-flame cognac copper pot stills to distill small-batch spirits.

Spirit Description

Citadelle Gin Rouge is built upon the brand's signature foundation of a triple-distilled French wheat base spirit and 19 classic botanicals. Using a patented progressive infusion process, the distillery integrates five 100% natural red fruits and plants; cranberry, raspberry, blueberry, blackcurrant, and rhubarb and distilling the ingredients directly rather than macerating them. This technique extracts vivid fruit aromas while leaving the liquid completely transparent.

• Colour: Crystal clear, bright, and completely colorless.

• Aroma: Highly aromatic and fresh, driven by bright red berries, blackcurrant, and fresh cranberry. This fruit-forward profile rests on a delicate foundation of piney juniper, citrus peel, and soft floral notes.

• Palate: Crisp, juicy, and expressive on the entry. Upfront notes of tart raspberry, cranberry, and sweet blueberry yield to a complex mid-palate of earthy rhubarb, lemon zest, warm baking spices, and a hint of Sichuan pepper.

• Body: Medium-bodied with a smooth, surprisingly round, and slightly oily texture that coats the mouth evenly.

• Finish: Long, clean, and dry, leaving lingering hints of red berry sweetness, light juniper, and a refreshing, subtle rhubarb tang without any cloying residue.

• ABV: Bottled at 41.7% (83.4 Proof).
