Product description
Introduction
This red wine originates from Argentina, produced in the Vista Flores district of the Uco Valley in Mendoza. Clos de los Siete is an ambitious project initiated in 1998 by the world renowned consultant enologist Michel Rolland. He partnered with several French families, owners of prestigious Bordeaux chateaux, to establish a unique vineyard at the foot of the Andes Mountains. The winemaking philosophy is centred on a 'blend of blends,' where select batches of grapes from four different estate wineries—including those owned by the Bonnie and Parent families—are meticulously combined by Rolland to create a single, consistent wine that expresses the exceptional terroir of the region.
Wine Description
The Clos de los Siete displays a deep ruby red colour with purple tints. The nose is expressive and complex, offering intense aromas of ripe blackberry, black plum, and dark cherry, layered with floral notes of violet, wild herbs, and spicy hints of vanilla and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied and well structured, featuring a fleshy, round texture with flavours of blackcurrant, minerals, and cocoa. It is characterized by its polished, silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, elegant finish. The varietal composition is Malbec dominated, typically including around 55% to 59% Malbec, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. The ABV is approximately 14.5%.
