Product description

Código 1530 Añejo Tequila is a luxury aged spirit produced in Amatitán, within the Lowlands (Valles) region of Jalisco, Mexico. Distilled at Industrializadora de Agave San Isidro (NOM 1580), the brand operates under a recipe that was privately enjoyed for generations by a prominent Los Bajos family before its commercial debut in 2016 (backed notably by country music icon George Strait). Named "1530" after the year Amatitán was officially recognized as a city, Código 1530 Añejo is celebrated for its artisanal production and its signature use of un-charred French oak wine barrels for maturation.

Spirit Description

Código 1530 Añejo is crafted from 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agaves harvested at full maturity in the mineral-rich soils of Amatitán. The agaves are slow-cooked in traditional stainless steel ovens and crushed using a mechanical roller mill. Fermentation takes place in open-air vats utilizing organic baker's yeast from a local family bakery in Amatitán. Double-distilled in copper pot stills, the spirit is matured for 18 months in hand-selected Napa Valley Cabernet French White Oak wine barrels. The use of un-charred wine casks allows the natural agave character to harmonize with soft wood, subtle tannins, and red fruit elegance.

  • Colour: Warm golden amber with soft copper and reddish reflections.

  • Aroma: Complex, rich, and inviting, opening with cooked agave, toasted oak, and dark vanilla bean, complemented by dried fruit, subtle figs, cocoa powder, and gentle baking spices.

  • Palate: Smooth, rich, and well-structured on the entry. Upfront flavors of roasted agave, butterscotch, and sweet vanilla give way to toasted oak, subtle dark berry notes, toasted almonds, cinnamon spice, and a hint of dark chocolate.

  • Body: Medium-to-full-bodied with a velvety, elegant, and mouth-coating texture.

  • Finish: Long, warm, and refined, trailing off with persistent sweet oak tannins, dried fruit, gentle black pepper, and a soft mineral dryness.

  • ABV: Bottled at 40% ABV (80 Proof).
