Produced in the Veneto region of Italy, specifically within the volcanic hills of San Michele di Bassano del Grappa, this wine is a pure expression of the indigenous Marzemino Nero grape. The Gottardi family established the Contra Soarda estate in 1999, reclaiming abandoned, rugged terrain to build a bio-architectural cellar integrated into the mountainside. Their winemaking philosophy centers on low intervention, organic farming, and a deep respect for the land's volcanic heritage.
Wine Description
This 100% Marzemino Nero presents a striking dark ruby-red colour with purple highlights. The aromatic profile is intense and focused, leading with scents of wild berries, black cherry, and mountain herbs, complemented by delicate notes of black pepper and violet. On the palate, the wine is dry and medium bodied, offering a lively acidity and firm yet well-integrated tannins that balance flavors of macerated plums, dark fruit, and a hint of tobacco.

The wine's bright acidity and rustic structure make it an excellent partner for tomato-based dishes like pasta Bolognese or hearty mushroom polenta. It also pairs beautifully with roasted white meats, grilled poultry, or mature local cheeses.
