Antinori Cont'Ugo 2020

This single varietal red wine originates from the Bolgheri DOC in the Tuscany region of Italy. Crafted by the historic Antinori family, whose winemaking legacy in Italy spans over 600 years, this wine is produced at the Guado al Tasso estate. The estate is situated in the 'Bolgheri Amphitheatre', a plain encircled by rolling hillsides where cooling Mediterranean breezes mitigate summer heat and maintain the aromatic freshness of the fruit.

Wine Description

The Antinori Cont'Ugo presents an intense ruby red colour in the glass. The nose delivers a rich and expressive bouquet of small ripe red fruits, such as red plums and cherries, accompanied by fresh balsamic notes of Mediterranean scrub, tobacco, and subtle spices like leather and graphite. On the palate, the wine offers a velvety entry with a medium to full body, showcasing vibrant flavours of blackberries, olives, and orange zest. It is distinguished by its roundness and well-integrated, chewy tannins that lead to a persistent, fruity finish with hints of coffee and earthiness.
