Product description

This structured and 'aristocratic' red wine originates from Italy, within the expansive Umbria I.G.T. appellation in the green heart of Central Italy. Produced by Famiglia Cotarella (formerly Falesco) the legendary family estate led by world-renowned winemakers Riccardo and Renzo Cotarella, alongside the second generation, Dominga, Marta, and Enrica Cotarella "Trentanni" was created to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the winery's founding. Sourced from choice, hill-sloped vineyard parcels in Montecchio, near Orvieto, the vines are rooted in deep, well-draining soils composed of clay, limestone, and ancient volcanic deposits. Umbria's continental microclimate brings warm, sun-drenched summer days balanced by cool night winds descending from the Apennine Mountains, enabling both native and international red varieties to achieve complete phenolic maturity while retaining a vibrant, mouthwatering natural acidity and noble structural balance.

Wine Description

Famiglia Cotarella Trentanni Rosso presents an opaque, deep black-ruby color in the glass with vivid crimson and purple reflections along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally bold, high-toned, and complex, delivering an expansive, precise, and opulent portrait of Umbrian terroir. The bouquet opens with a soaring display of ripe black plums, wild blackberries, and dark dark cherries, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of sweet Madagascar vanilla, dark cocoa nibs, tobacco leaf, dried lavender, espresso bean, and a subtle line of crushed stone minerality. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich, and athletic, showcasing a succulent core of dark berry compote, licorice, and savory herbs. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that effortlessly elevates its mid-palate fruit density. The mouthfeel is broad, velvety, and mouth-coating, framed by firm, fine-grained, and polished tannins that glide into an extraordinarily long, dry, and savory finish accented by persistent notes of dark chocolate, cedar, and toasted oak spice.
