This prestigious white wine originates from the Mont de Milieu vineyard, widely considered one of the finest and most "Grand Cru-like" of the Chablis Premier Cru sites. Domaine Courtalt-Michelet is a family-run estate born from the union of two winemaking families, Stéphanie Courtalt and Vincent Michelet, who manage approximately 28 hectares of vines. Their winemaking philosophy centers on a "reasoned" approach to viticulture (Lutte Raisonnée), emphasizing minimal intervention to allow the Kimmeridgian limestone soils to express their signature flinty character.
Wine Description
The Courtalt-Michelet Chablis Premier Cru Mont de Milieu presents a brilliant pale gold colour with silvery reflections. The nose is intense and refined, opening with aromas of white flowers, lemon curd, and crisp green apple, underpinned by a powerful "gunflint" smokiness and saline minerality. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, showcasing a rich, honeyed texture balanced by a racy, vibrant acidity. It is characterized by its high-altitude energy and a long, persistent finish that echoes with notes of citrus zest and crushed sea shells.
