This structured and 'classic' red wine originates from Chile, specifically from the historic vineyards of the Maipo Valley. Founded in 1856, Cousiño Macul is the only winery in Chile established in the 19th century that remains 100% owned and operated by its original founding family, now in its sixth and seventh generations. The winery's philosophy emphasizes a 'world-class' Chilean identity by combining traditional Bordeaux-style winemaking with sustainable agriculture and minimal intervention to protect the natural character of the Maipo terroir.

Wine Description

Cabernet Sauvignon (specifically the renowned Antiguas Reservas bottling) presents a dark ruby colour with intense fruit aromas. The sensory profile features a nose of blackcurrant, cherries, and strawberries, layered with spicy notes of black pepper, liquorice, and a soft menthol aroma. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and generous, showcasing harmonious flavours of ripe black plums and blackberry fruit underpinned by firm, ripe tannins. It is characterized by its balanced wood influence, featuring delicate cocoa and light toast notes from French oak maturation, leading to a persistent and complex finish. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon reached an alcohol content (ABV) of 14% and a sugar content of 2.6 g/L. While the estate follows sustainable viticulture and reduces the use of agrochemicals, this specific vintage is not certified organic.
