Product description
Originating from Italy on the island of Sicily, specifically within the Terre Siciliane IGT / Sicilia DOC appellation from the Ficuzza estate in Piana degli Albanesi near Palermo, Cusumano Lucido represents a vibrant, modern, and mineral-driven expression of indigenous Sicilian white winemaking. Founded in 2001 by brothers Alberto and Diego Cusumano, the winery has become a benchmark for high-altitude, terroir-specific Sicilian viticulture. Named after Lucido, the historic local clone of the Catarratto grape variety known for its bright skin and elevated acidity, the winemaking philosophy focuses on sustainable mountain farming, early morning hand harvesting, cold maceration on the skins, and stainless steel fermentation with four months of lees aging to preserve pure varietal fruit, aromatic clarity, and distinctive Mediterranean minerality.
Wine Description
The wine presents a pale straw yellow colour with luminous greenish highlights in the glass. An inviting and fresh bouquet opens with fragrant aromas of yellow apple, white peach, and ripe lemon, interwoven with delicate floral notes of jasmine, fresh mountain herbs, and a distinct touch of crushed sea salt minerality. On the palate, it is light-to-medium bodied, crisp, and vibrant, delivering juicy flavours of green orchard fruit, grapefruit zest, and subtle tropical melon, all supported by a mouthwatering, zesty spine of natural acidity. Finishing clean, dry, and pleasantly persistent, it leaves a long, refreshing impression of citrus zest and saline minerality. Composed of 100% Catarratto (Lucido clone), it combines sunny Mediterranean fruit generosity with high-altitude alpine freshness and crisp, easy-drinking versatility.
