Product description
The Dalmore Principal King Alexander III is a luxury single malt Scotch whisky originating from the Highland region of Scotland. The distillery is situated in Alness, north of Inverness, and has been crafting spirit since 1839. This specific expression commemorates an event in 1263 when Colin of Kintail, Chieftain of Clan Mackenzie, saved King Alexander III of Scotland from a charging stag. The act earned the clan the right to use the twelve-point Royal Stag emblem, which proudly adorns every bottle of the distillery's whisky today.
Spirit Description
The Dalmore King Alexander III is made from 100% malted barley and represents a pioneering maturation achievement originally envisioned by legendary Master Distiller Richard Paterson. The defining element of this expression is its unique assemblage of six distinct cask finishes: small-batch ex-bourbon barrels, Matusalem Oloroso sherry butts, Madeira drums, Sicilian Marsala barrels, Port pipes, and French Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques.
-
Colour: Deep amber with warm auburn highlights, showing the influence of the diverse wine and fortified wine casks.
-

-
Palate: Velvety, smooth, and layered on the entry. The palate delivers an elegant combination of crème caramel, toasted almonds, vanilla pod, and citrus zest, which evolve into notes of Christmas cake, ginger, and a warm blend of mixed spices.
-
Body: Medium-bodied with a round, smooth, and delicate mouthfeel that emphasizes lightness and approachability rather than heavy viscosity.
-
Finish: Moderately long and warming, closing with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, alongside dry oak and trailing hints of cranberry, cocoa dust, and vanilla.
