Product description
This structured and 'crystalline' white wine originates from Australia, within the world-famous McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills regions of South Australia. Crafted by d'Arenberg a historic family-owned winery established in 1912 and led by fourth-generation chief winemaker Chester Osborn The Olive Grove Chardonnay takes its name from the olive trees that flourish alongside the estate's old-vine Chardonnay blocks. Sourced from choice, sustainably farmed vineyards across the warm valley floor of McLaren Vale and the cooler elevations of the Adelaide Hills, the vines are rooted in ancient soils consisting of sandy loam, gravelly limestone, and ironstone-rich clay. The maritime influence from the nearby Gulf St Vincent brings cooling afternoon breezes that temper summer warmth, allowing Chardonnay grapes to achieve generous stone-fruit concentration while preserving an electric, razor-sharp natural acidity.
Wine Description
D'Arenberg The Olive Grove Chardonnay presents a luminous, pale straw-gold appearance in the glass with bright greenish-gold reflections at the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering a masterfully balanced portrait of modern South Australian Chardonnay that bridges rich fruit depth with crisp, mineral-driven tension. The bouquet opens with an inviting display of fresh white peach, nectarine, and crisp green apple, seamlessly layered with delicate underlays of lemon curd, white cashew nut, toasted brioche, subtle vanilla pod, and a distinct line of crushed limestone minerality. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, sleek, and precisely focused, showcasing a succulent core of stone fruit, citrus peel, and creamy autolytic warmth. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly through the mid-palate texture. The mouthfeel is supple, broad, and weightless, framed by subtle oak integration that glides into a long, dry, and savory finish accented by lingering notes of lime zest, flint, and toasted almond.
