Product description
This rare vintage single-cask French grape brandy originates from the premier cru chalk slopes of Grande Champagne, produced by the historic house Delamain (established 1759 in Jarnac). Part of Delamain’s prestigious Collection Pléiade (specifically within the Apogée / Vintage tier), Delamain 1999 Single Cask Cognac was distilled exclusively from the 1999 harvest of 100% Ugni Blanc grapes. In accordance with strict BNIC regulations, the single seasoned 350-liter fût roux (red oak cask crafted from Tronçais forest oak) was officially certified, sealed under wax, and aged undisturbed in Delamain's vintage cellar along the humid banks of the Charente River. Bottled straight from that specific cask at its natural strength of 87.6 proof (43.8% ABV) in a standard 700 ml bottle, it is non-chill filtered and completely unadulterated—crafted with zero added sugar, zero caramel coloring (E150a), and zero boisé.
Spirit Description
This vintage Cognac displays a luminous, golden-topaz amber hue with deep copper reflections and slow, unctuous legs coating the glass. On the nose, it is intensely aromatic, pure, and refined, leading with lush dried apricots, white peach compote, candied orange zest, and baked yellow plums, followed by delicate floral accents of iris, dried honeysuckle, fresh vanilla pod, and seasoned cedar wood. On the palate, the 43.8% ABV natural cask strength delivers a vibrant, velvety, and mouth-coating texture with notable persistence and focus. Flavors of poached orchard fruits, golden raisins, and quince paste roll across the tongue before revealing mid-palate complexities of raw hazelnut, delicate early-stage rancio, sweet pipe tobacco, and gentle baking spices (nutmeg and light cinnamon). A subtle chalky mineral vein keeps the spirit remarkably fresh and structured across its two-plus decades in wood. The finish is exceptionally long, dry, and clean, lingering with impressions of dried stone fruit leather, citrus peel, toasted oak oils, and soft wildflower honey.
