Product description
This ultra-rare single-cask French grape brandy originates from the village of Malaville in the heart of the Grande Champagne premier cru, crafted by the historic, purist house Delamain (established in 1759 in Jarnac). Part of Delamain's acclaimed "Pléiade" collection of single-terroir, single-cask releases, Delamain Malaville Single Cask Cognac showcases the distinct microclimate and chalk-heavy soils of the Malaville commune. Distilled exclusively from 100% Ugni Blanc grapes, the spirit was matured in a single, ancient seasoned "roux" oak cask (crafted from fine-grained French Tronçais oak) in Delamain’s cellars along the Charente River.
Spirit Description
This single-cask Cognac pours a brilliant, shimmering amber-topaz hue with luminous golden-copper highlights and thick, slow-creeping tears along the glass. On the nose, it is extraordinarily fresh, floral, and aromatic, opening with vibrant white peach, ripe apricot, dried fig, and candied orange peel, seamlessly interlaced with delicate notes of acacia blossom, linden tea, fresh vanilla bean, and polished antique cedar. On the palate, the 44.1% ABV cask strength provides an unctuous, rich, and mouth-coating texture with exceptional vitality. An initial wave of sweet stone fruit compote, poached pear, and citrus marmalade gives way to sophisticated mid-palate nuances of roasted almond, delicate rancio, grated cocoa, and warm baking spices (cinnamon and nutmeg). A distinct line of chalky limestone minerality anchors the mid-palate, keeping the finish remarkably lively. The finish is exceptionally long, crisp, and elevated, trailing off with impressions of dried orchard fruits, subtle wood spice, and lingering floral honey.
