Established in 1872 during the Meiji Restoration, the Doi family transitioned from being village headmen and landlords to sake brewers using rice given to them as tribute. The brand name 'Kaiun' translates to 'to welcome luck', and this flagship Iwaizake expression, symbolized by a lucky rake on the label—is traditionally gifted for celebratory occasions like weddings and the New Year.

This premium Tokubetsu Honjozo presents a clear, colourless appearance in the glass. The aromatic profile is bright and fruity, featuring dominant scents of melon, pear, and banana accented by a subtle, buttery fragrance. On the palate, it offers a refined and complex experience with a crisp, dry taste that is balanced by a discreet acidity and a hint of sweetness. The texture is smooth and fresh, highlighting the purity of the soft spring water used in its production. ABV 15.5%.
