Crafted by the Rallo family of Donnafugata in partnership with the luxury house Dolce & Gabbana, 'Tancredi' draws its name from one of the central noble characters in Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa's famous novel The Leopard. Sourced from estate vineyards planted on clay-limestone soils at elevations up to 400 metres, the winemaking philosophy combines temperature-controlled fermentation on the skins, extensive maceration, and aging in French oak barrels (a combination of new and second-passage barrels) for over 12 months followed by extended bottle aging. The result is a prestigious Sicilian red of profound depth, Mediterranean elegance, and exceptional cellaring capability.

Wine Description

The wine presents an opaque, deep dark ruby red colour with intense purple-garnet reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly complex bouquet opens with opulent aromas of ripe black plum, dark cherry, wild blackberry, and blueberry, interwoven with sophisticated notes of dark chocolate, sweet tobacco leaf, liquorice, Mediterranean garrigue herbs, balsam, and refined French oak spice. On the palate, it is full bodied, velvety, and dense, delivering concentrated flavours of dark fruit jam, cassis, and earthy cocoa, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by rich, fine-grained tannins and a deep, coat-the-mouth mid-palate, it concludes with a remarkably long, persistent finish marked by lingering black fruit, savory spices, and a subtle mineral grip. Composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d'Avola, and Tannat, this 2021 release offers an optimal drinking window of 2025–2040+.
