Product description
This structured and 'aristocratic' sparkling wine originates from France, within the prestigious Champagne A.O.C. appellation. Produced by the legendary Champagne House Moët & Chandon under its prestige brand, Dom Pérignon Rosé represents the absolute zenith of luxury sparkling winemaking. The 2008 vintage, crafted by long-time Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy, spent nearly twelve years resting quietly in the deep chalk cellars of Épernay. Sourced exclusively from choice Grand Cru and Premier Cru parcels across Hautvillers, Cramant, Avize, Bouzy, and Aÿ, the vines are rooted in deep, chalk-rich limestone subsoils (craie). The 2008 growing season was defined by a cool, overcast summer followed by a miraculous, dry, and sun-filled September. This unique climatic sequence allowed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to achieve incredible phenolic maturity alongside an electric, razor-sharp natural acidity, resulting in a Rosé of exceptional power, precision, and age-worthy tension.
Wine Description
The 2008 Dom Pérignon Rosé presents a luminous, deep copper-pink color in the glass with vivid amber and coral highlights, propelled by an extraordinarily fine, persistent, and energetic stream of microscopic bubbles (mousse). Its sensory profile is exceptionally bold, high-toned, and complex, delivering an intense, dramatic, and dark-toned expression of vintage Champagne. The bouquet opens with a captivating, multi-layered display of wild raspberries, red currants, blood orange peel, and dried dark cherries, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of smoked paprika, saffron, cocoa nibs, toasted brioche, dried roses, and a distinct line of crushed chalk minerality. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, taut, and precisely focused, showcasing a succulent core of dark stone fruits, bitter citrus zest, and savory spices. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that effortlessly elevates its mid-palate density. The mouthfeel is muscular, athletic, and supple, framed by fine-grained Pinot Noir tannins that glide into an extraordinarily long, dry, and savory finish accented by persistent notes of smoke, red berry skin, and chalk.
Vintage Quality
The 2008 vintage in Champagne is widely acclaimed as one of the greatest and most historic vintages of the modern era. A cool, rainy spring and overcast summer were succeeded by a bright, windy, and sun-drenched autumn harvest. This late September turn allowed grapes to achieve complete phenolic maturity while retaining extraordinary levels of natural tartaric acidity. Dom Pérignon harvested pristine, low-yielding fruit with ideal structural parameters. The resulting 2008 Dom Pérignon Rosé combines generous power and dark fruit intensity with a chiseled, razor-sharp structural frame, built to evolve gracefully in a cellar over the next 20 to 30+ years.
