Product description

This structured and 'crystalline' prestige champagne originates from France, within the world-renowned Champagne A.O.C. region based in Reims. First created in 1959 to honor Dom Thierry Ruinart—the visionary Benedictine monk who inspired his nephew Nicolas Ruinart to found the oldest established Champagne house in 1729 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs represents the absolute pinnacle of Chardonnay winemaking. Operating under a precision-focused philosophy that champions purity, tension, and extraordinary cellar aging potential, the House crafts this rare vintage cuvée exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards. The fruit is sourced primarily from the chalk-rich slopes of the Côte des Blancs (Chouilly, Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) complemented by noble Grand Cru sites in the Montagne de Reims (Sillery, Taissy). Rooted in deep, porous Cretaceous chalk beds (crayères), these heritage vines yield grapes infused with intense chalky minerality, high-toned floral aromatics, and a razor-sharp structural line.

Wine Description

The Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs presents a luminous, pale gold color in the glass with shimmering greenish-yellow reflections and a ultrafine, persistent bead of delicate bubbles. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, offering a masterfully transparent and chiseled expression of top-tier Grand Cru Chardonnay. The bouquet opens with a captivating display of lemon blossom, fresh lime zest, and crispy green apples, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of white peach, candied ginger, crushed flint, toasted brioche, and a distinctive whiff of smoky reduction and cold chalk. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, precise, and intensely focused, delivering a concentrated core of citrus oils, juicy orchard fruits, and subtle hazelnut cream. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly through the mid-palate density. The mouthfeel is broad yet weightless and athletic, framed by a silky mousse that glides into an extraordinarily long, dry, and chalky-salty finish accented by lingering notes of lemon curd, roasted almonds, and white pepper.

This high-definition Blanc de Blancs expression is 100% Chardonnay sourced exclusively from Grand Cru plots. Hand-harvested at peak maturity, the juice underwent gentle pressing followed by temperature-controlled primary fermentation in stainless steel vats to preserve pure varietal aromatics. The wine completed full malolactic conversion before being aged on its fine lees in Ruinart's historic UNESCO-listed underground chalk cellars (crayères) for over 10 years (aging under natural cork, or tirage sous liège, for recent benchmark vintages to build textural depth and complex reduction). Finished with an exceptionally low Extra Brut dosage, it reaches a perfectly integrated alcohol content (ABV) of 12.5% and is finished bone-dry.
