Product description
Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the premier tier of the Pommard appellation in the Cote de Beaune, Domaine Albert Grivault Pommard Premier Cru 'Clos Blanc' represents a refined, powerful, and cellaring grade expression of classic Pinot Noir. Produced by Domaine Albert Grivault, a world famous domain based in Meursault and managed by the Bardet family, this historic estate holds a rare 2.2-hectare parcel in Pommard's prized Premier Cru vineyard Clos Blanc. Despite its misleading name, Clos Blanc is planted entirely to red Pinot Noir vines on steep, east-facing slopes rich in white marl, limestone, and clay soils.
Wine Description
The wine presents a deep, clear dark ruby garnet colour with bright crimson reflections near the rim. An intense, aromatic bouquet opens with expressive notes of dark red cherry, wild raspberry, black plum, and crushed cranberry, interwoven with delicate nuances of dried rose petals, forest floor, damp earth, sweet spices, and subtle toasted oak. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, satiny, and well structured, delivering concentrated flavours of dark fruits, sour cherry, and subtle mineral iron, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering core of natural acidity. Framed by fine-grained, elegant Premier Cru tannins and an energetic mid-palate, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering red berry fruit and earthy complexity.
