Product description
This sweet, full bodied white dessert wine originates from France, within the Anjou region of the Loire Valley and the prestigious Bonnezeaux appellation. Domaine des Fontaines is a long standing family run estate situated in Thouarcé, operating in the heart of the Coteaux du Layon. Managed with sustainable viticultural techniques, the estate focuses on showcasing the unique character of its slate and schist soils. The Les Brunettes cuvée is one of the property's benchmark offerings, celebrated for its luscious complexity and vibrant concentration achieved through careful hand harvesting.
Wine Description
This fine sweet wine presents an intense, gleaming golden yellow colour in the glass. The nose is deeply aromatic and complex, offering a expressive bouquet of very ripe quince, stewed apricot, honey, exotic fruits, and subtle hints of caramel. On the palate, it reveals a rich, voluptuous volume and a coat of generous sweetness, expertly balanced by the grape's signature natural freshness and an underlying mineral tension from the local schist terrain. Flavours of candied fruits, dried apricot, and citrus peel linger effortlessly through a long, luxurious finish. Crafted entirely from 100% Chenin Blanc, the grapes are selectively picked in successive passes to harvest fruit concentrated by noble rot.
Food Pairing
The opulent sweetness, rich texture, and elevated natural acidity of this sweet Chenin Blanc make it an exquisite match for rich and savoury delicacies. It pairs spectacularly with pan seared foie gras, terrines, roasted sea scallops, and strong blue cheeses such as Roquefort or Fourme d'Ambert. It is equally exceptional alongside regional goat cheeses or fruit desserts such as pear and almond tarts, baked apple galettes, and fruit clafoutis.
