Product description

Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Gevrey Chambertin appellation in the northern Cote de Nuits, Domaine Drouhin Laroze Gevrey Chambertin Clos de Combes 2022 represents a generous, vibrant, and precise village expression of classic Pinot Noir. Crafted by Domaine Drouhin Laroze under the stewardship of the Drouhin family, this historic estate is celebrated for its deep roots in Gevrey Chambertin dating back to 1850. Sourced from a dedicated two-hectare plot situated at the mouth of the Combe Lavaux, the vineyard features old vines planted between 1959 and 2001 on sandy marl and alluvial limestone soils. The winemaking philosophy focuses on sustainable viticulture, hand harvesting, minimal intervention, native yeast fermentation, and oak barrel aging (approximately 40% new) to produce a wine characterized by remarkable fruit concentration, energetic freshness, and authentic regional terroir.

Wine Description

The wine presents a deep, clear dark ruby purple colour with vibrant crimson highlights along the rim. An expressive, highly energetic bouquet opens with fresh aromas of dark red cherry, wild blackberry, and crushed red plum, interwoven with delicate notes of white pepper, bay leaf, subtle sweet tobacco, and toasted oak spice. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, generous, and well structured, delivering concentrated flavours of black cherry, dark berries, and savory herbs supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by fine-grained, precise tannins and a vibrant mid-palate, it concludes with a long, energetic finish marked by lingering notes of dark fruit, sweet spice, and a distinct salty minerality. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, this release offers an optimal drinking window of 2026–2036. Stylistically, it effortlessly marries old vine concentration and power with the cool, refreshing minerality delivered by the winds of the Combe Lavaux.
