Product description
Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Morey Saint Denis AOC appellation in the Côte de Nuits, Dujac Fils et Père Morey Saint Denis 2023 represents an elegant, perfumed, and masterfully crafted expression of village-level Pinot Noir. Established in 2000 by the Seysses family of the iconic Domaine Dujac, the Dujac Fils et Père négociant label was created to source premium fruit from trusted grower partners while applying the exact same artisanal viticultural standards and cellar methodology as the domaine holdings. Situated in the heart of the Côte de Nuits between Gevrey Chambertin and Chambolle Musigny, the vineyards of Morey Saint Denis occupy well-drained, mid-slope terroirs characterized by Jurassic limestone bedrock overlaid with brown clay, marl, and fossil-rich scree. Led by Jeremy, Alec, and Diana Seysses, the winemaking philosophy embraces whole-cluster fermentation (typically around 65% to 85% stems depending on vintage conditions) with indigenous ambient yeasts, gentle punch-downs, and aging for 12 to 14 months in fine French oak casks (approximately 20% to 30% new oak) with minimal racking and no fining or filtration. The result is a vibrant, seamless red Burgundy that captures Morey's signature blend of structural depth, savory spice, and lifted floral aromatics.
Wine Description
The wine presents a luminous, clear medium ruby red colour with vivid crimson-garnet reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with noble aromas of ripe red cherry, wild strawberry, dark raspberry, and red currant compote, interwoven with sophisticated notes of fresh rose petal, crushed limestone minerality, forest floor, whole-cluster stem spice, orange peel, and warm French oak cedar spice. On the palate, it is medium bodied, silken, and energetic, delivering concentrated flavours of crisp red fruits, tart dark plum, and savoury mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural cool-climate acidity. Framed by fine-grained, chalky tannins and an elegantly chiseled mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering red berries, dried wild herbs, and a clean gravelly grip. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, this 2023 release offers an optimal drinking window spanning 2026–2038+. Stylistically, it combines Dujac's benchmark whole-bunch aromatic complexity, pure fruit transparency, and authentic Côte de Nuits mineral poise.
