Product description
Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Monthelie Premier Cru appellation in the Cote de Beaune, Domaine Dujardin Monthelie Premier Cru Les Barbières represents a structured, intense, and age-worthy expression of Pinot Noir. Crafted by Domaine Dujardin, Les Barbières is a famed Premier Cru vineyard bordering Meursault and Volnay, renowned for producing wines of exceptional depth and tannic framework. The winemaking process incorporates traditional hand harvesting, partial whole-cluster fermentation, native yeasts, and aging in fine French oak barrels to deliver a powerful, terroir-driven wine with exceptional cellaring capacity.
Wine Description
The wine presents a clear, dark ruby purple colour with magenta highlights along the rim. A rich, earthy bouquet opens with intense aromas of dark black cherry, wild blackberry, and plum, interwoven with distinct notes of damp earth, leather, crushed stone minerality, and toasted oak spice. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, firm, and muscular, delivering deep layers of dark red berries and savory herbs supported by a vibrant, mouthwatering core of natural acidity. Structured by sturdy, fine-grained tannins, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering dark fruit and earthy complexity. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, it pairs the muscular power of neighboring Volnay with Monthelie's vibrant fruit purity.
