Product description
Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the premier tier of the Nuits Saint Georges appellation in the Cote de Nuits, Domaine Guy et Yvan Dufouleur Nuits Saint Georges Premier Cru 'Les Crots' 2019 represents a deep, structured, and cellaring grade expression of classic Pinot Noir. Produced by Domaine Guy et Yvan Dufouleur under the direction of Yvan Dufouleur, whose family winemaking legacy in Nuits Saint Georges extends across multiple generations back to 1596, this estate is celebrated for crafting terroir driven, structured Burgundies with refined modern precision. Sourced from Les Crots, a steep Premier Cru parcel positioned high on the southern hillside of Nuits Saint Georges on thin, stony limestone and clay soils, the winemaking philosophy combines careful vineyard management, hand harvesting, native yeast fermentation, and extended barrel aging in French oak (approximately 30% to 40% new) to craft a wine marked by dark fruit concentration, firm mineral structure, and exceptional cellaring potential.
Wine Description
The wine presents a clear, deep dark garnet purple colour with intense crimson highlights along the rim. An expressive, complex bouquet opens with rich aromas of wild blackberry, dark red cherry, black plum, and crushed cassis, interwoven with savory notes of game, leather, forest floor, damp earth, sweet spices, and dark toasted oak. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, muscular, and dense, delivering concentrated flavours of dark fruits, sour cherry, and mineral iron, all anchored by a vibrant, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by fine-grained, firm Premier Cru tannins and a solid mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, energetic finish marked by lingering dark berry fruit, savory spice, and stony limestone grip. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, this 2019 release offers an optimal drinking window of 2026–2040+. Stylistically, it combines the sun-ripened warmth and generous fruit purity of the 2019 vintage with Nuits Saint Georges' hallmark power and earthy complexity.
