Product description
Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Meursault AOC appellation in the Côte de Beaune, Domaine Henri et Gilles Buisson Meursault 'Les Vignes de Marguerite' 2024 represents a pure, certified biodynamic, and finely sculpted expression of village-level Chardonnay. Tracing their family winemaking roots in the nearby high-elevation village of Saint-Romain back to 1758, Domaine Henri et Gilles Buisson stands among Burgundy's foremost pioneers of ecological viticulture. This cuvée, named in loving tribute to their grandmother Marguerite, is sourced from venerable old vines situated on the gentle lower slopes of Meursault where deep clay-limestone soils contain an ideal balance of marly silt and limestone scree. Under the direct stewardship of brothers Franck and Frédérick Buisson, the philosophy emphasizes hand harvesting in small bins, pneumatic pressing of whole clusters, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation using indigenous ambient yeasts, and maturation for 12 to 14 months in carefully selected French oak casks (approximately 15% to 20% new oak) with light lees contact and no fining or filtration. The result is a vibrant, deeply mineral white Burgundy that combines Meursault's quintessential nutty breadth and textural generosity with the domaine's hallmark purity, tension, and crystalline focus.
Wine Description
The wine presents a luminous, clear pale straw-gold colour with brilliant platinum and emerald reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with noble aromas of ripe Meyer lemon, crisp Bosc pear, yellow apple, and white peach, interwoven with sophisticated notes of acacia flower, toasted hazelnut, crushed limestone minerality, beeswax, lemon verbena, and subtle French oak pastry spice. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, silken, and energetic, delivering concentrated flavours of citrus oil, orchard fruits, and savoury mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural cool-climate acidity. Framed by a rich, delicately rounded mid-palate structure and seamless phenolic grip, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering citrus zest, toasted brioche, and a clean, saline chalky drive. Composed of 100% Chardonnay, this 2024 release offers an optimal drinking window spanning 2026–2036+. Stylistically, it combines biodynamic vitality, classic Meursault textural opulence, and laser-sharp mineral poise.
