Product description

Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Pommard AOC appellation in the Côte de Beaune, Domaine Henri et Gilles Buisson Pommard 2024 represents a pure, organic, and traditionally structured expression of village-level Pinot Noir. Tracing their family winemaking lineage in Saint-Romain back to 1758, Domaine Henri et Gilles Buisson is celebrated as an early champion of certified organic and biodynamic farming across the Côte d'Or. The estate's Pommard holdings benefit from the village's classic terroir, situated on gentle east- and southeast-facing slopes featuring deep, iron-rich reddish clay, marl, and limestone scree that naturally encourage deep root penetration. Under the stewardship of brothers Franck and Frédérick Buisson, the viticultural and cellar philosophy centres on rigorous hand-harvesting in small bins, parcel-by-parcel sorting, native yeast fermentation with a balanced inclusion of whole clusters, and maturation for 12 to 14 months in fine French oak casks (approximately 15% to 20% new oak) without fining or filtration. The result is an energetic, muscular red Burgundy that harmonizes Pommard's classic terrestrial power with the Buisson signature of floral freshness and pure fruit definition.

Wine Description

The wine presents a luminous, clear medium ruby red colour with vibrant garnet reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with noble aromas of ripe dark cherry, black raspberry, wild plum, and red currant compote, interwoven with sophisticated notes of violet petal, iron-rich earth, forest floor, subtle game, crushed stone minerality, and warm French oak cedar spice. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, silken, and energetic, delivering concentrated flavours of dark berries, sour cherry, and savoury mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural cool-climate acidity. Framed by firm, fine-grained structural tannins and a dense, well-proportioned mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering red fruit, dried herbs, and a clean gravelly grip. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, this 2024 release offers an optimal drinking window spanning 2027–2038+. Stylistically, it combines biodynamic vitality, authentic Pommard muscle, and vibrant Côte de Beaune mineral precision.
