More Information
Product description
This vibrant and approachable red wine originates from the Côte-Rôtie DOC in the Northern Rhône Valley of France. Domaine Jamet is a legendary producer, traditionally known for long-lived, whole-cluster fermented wines. The Fructus Voluptas cuvée, first produced in 2008, represents a deliberate departure from the flagship bottling. While the estate’s primary wine is built for decades of aging, the philosophy behind Fructus Voluptas literally "Fruit of Pleasure" is to provide a more immediate and fruit-driven lens through which to experience Jamet's winemaking.
Wine Description
The Jamet Fructus Voluptas presents a luminous, deep magenta colour. The sensory profile is exceptionally aromatic and fresh, featuring a core of ripe blackberry and cherry liqueur, layered with overt floral notes of candied violet and a savory undercurrent of crushed rock, smoke, and black pepper. On the palate, the wine is round and concentrated, showcasing polished tannins and a vibrant core of minerality that provides a refreshing lift. Unlike the flagship Côte-Rôtie, this 100% Syrah is made from de-stemmed fruit sourced from younger vines (averaging 20 years old) planted in schist soils. It has an ABV of 12.5% to 13% and was aged for 16 months in used oak barrels.
Food Pairing
The pure fruit expression and refined tannins of this cuvée make it a versatile companion for traditional Rhône-style gastronomy. It pairs perfectly with herb-crusted rack of lamb, spiced roasted woodcock, or grilled beef. Its savory and peppery notes also complement duck, game, and hearty pasta dishes featuring mushrooms or truffles. For a more casual pairing, it is excellent with grilled sausages or eggplant-based dishes.
