Product description
Domaine Latour Giraud Meursault Genevrieres Premier Cru 2023 originates from France, within the Burgundy region and the Côte de Beaune subregion. Nestled in the heart of Meursault, the estate represents an iconic family property celebrated for achieving a perfect alliance between tradition and modernity. Under the precise direction of winemaker Jean-Pierre Latour, the estate follows a winemaking philosophy focused on crafting full-throttle, classically styled white Burgundies that display a remarkable finesse and purity.
Wine Description
This white wine presents a bright mid-yellow appearance in the glass and possesses a medium-to-full body with a broad-shouldered structure. The sensory profile is exceptionally complex and multi-layered, opening with a naturally exotic and succulent nose of jasmine tea, gardenia, delicate fresh apples, and smoked apple, complemented by citrus nuances of lime and verbena blossom. On the super-sleek and strikingly textured palate, it delivers deep flavours of pear, lemon, and quince, layered with a fine-boned framework of ginger spice, precise acidity, and a notable concentration. The finish is remarkably long, bone-dry, and persistent, exuding an appealing, lively bead of minerality and a lightly austere character.
Varietal Composition: 100% Chardonnay.
Stylistic Notes: The wine is celebrated for its structural harmony and impeccable balance, exhibiting an intelligent use of integrated oak that supports the rich, tactile fruit without introducing an overwhelming wood effect.
ABV: 13.5%.
Organic Status: While the domain manages its premier crus with meticulous care to protect the health and transparency of the site, this bottling is not certified organic.
Food Pairing
The immense concentration, rich texture, and vibrant mineral drive of this Premier Cru make it a masterful match for rich, full-bodied gastronomy.
Poultry: Pairs phenomenally well with classic roasted chicken, roasted turkey, or rich poultry prepared in a cream sauce with mushrooms.
Seafood: Suggested pairings include decadent dishes such as lobster or crab served with drawn butter, as well as poached salmon.
Savoury: Matches gracefully with a premium wild mushroom risotto or rich foie gras, which beautifully mirror the wine's textured breadth.
Cheese: Complements a fine selection of mild, soft cheeses.
Vintage Quality
The 2023 Burgundy vintage is highly regarded, with growing conditions yielding grapes of exceptional fruit purity and structural depth. A relatively benign winter rolled into a tumultuous spring that fluctuated between unseasonably warm and chilly periods, which demanded careful management in the vineyards. The winemaker's skill in navigating these climatic shifts and picking at perfect ripeness allowed the fruit to achieve its optimal potential, resulting in a beautifully crafted Genevrieres release with a tightly wound core and an extensive cellaring capacity up to 2037.
