Domaine Michel Gros, based in Vosne-Romanée, is one of the most distinguished family estates in the Côte de Nuits. Managed alongside his son Pierre, Michel Gros represents the sixth generation of winemakers dedicated to translating elite Burgundy terroirs into polished, expressive wines.

The Fontaine Saint-Martin is a prized monopole (a vineyard under single ownership) located in the village of Arcenant, sitting just above Vosne-Romanée in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. Replanted by the family in the late 1970s, this 7-hectare amphitheater site features steep, south-facing slopes composed of "Pernand marls" and marly limestone—a soil structure nearly identical to the grand white terroirs of Corton-Charlemagne.

The Domaine Michel Gros Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits "Fontaine Saint-Martin" Monopole Blanc 2023 displays a pale gold hue with shimmering yellow highlights. On the nose, it opens with an energetic, fruit-forward bouquet of citrus peel, ripe peach, fresh white orchard fruits, and orange blossom, gently wrapped in subtle hints of toasted brioche, fresh butter, and light vanilla.

On the palate, this 100% Chardonnay delivers wonderful fleshiness, balance, and tension. The warmer 2023 vintage gives the fruit a generous, rounded core, which is immediately lifted by crisp satsuma and lemon peel acidity. Fermentation finishes slowly in oak barrels before aging in French oak (roughly 20% new) with regular lees stirring. This barrel treatment adds a subtle, creamy texture without overpowering the vineyard's distinct, mouthwatering mineral streak.
