Product description
Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the prestigious Corton Grand Cru appellation in the Cote de Beaune, Domaine Parent Corton Grand Cru Blanc 2023 represents a rare, powerful, and cellaring grade expression of Grand Cru Chardonnay. Managed by sisters Anne and Catherine Parent, Domaine Parent traces its winemaking heritage back to 1753 and is celebrated for its organic, biodynamic, and non-interventionalist viticultural practices. Sourced from choice high-elevation parcels on the hill of Corton characterized by steep slopes of active limestone, marl, and chalky clay soils, the winemaking philosophy combines hand harvesting, slow whole-cluster pneumatic pressing, native yeast fermentation, and barrel aging in French oak (approximately 30% to 40% new) with periodic lees stirring. The result is an aristocratic white Burgundy marked by intense citrus purity, crystalline mineral tension, and extraordinary longevity.
Wine Description
The wine presents a clear, luminous pale golden yellow colour with bright greenish-gold reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly complex bouquet opens with noble aromas of lemon curd, ripe green apple, yellow peach, and crushed pear, interwoven with delicate notes of white acacia flowers, hazelnut, wet chalk, toasted brioche, and subtle toasted oak spice. On the palate, it is full bodied, satiny, and broad yet intensely focused, delivering concentrated flavours of citrus zest, white orchard fruit, and flinty mineral iron, all supported by a vibrant, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by a rich, coat-the-mouth texture derived from fine lees aging and a taut mid-palate, it concludes with an extraordinarily long, persistent finish marked by lingering lemon peel, toasted nut, and a distinct chalky limestone grip. Composed of 100% Chardonnay, this 2023 release offers an optimal drinking window of 2027–2042+. Stylistically, it effortlessly marries the sun-ripened fruit depth of the 2023 vintage with Corton's hallmark power, structure, and Grand Cru authority.
