Product description
Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Pommard Premier Cru appellation in the Cote de Beaune, Domaine Parent Pommard Premier Cru 'Les Epenots' 2020 Magnum represents a monumental, cellaring grade expression of classic Pinot Noir in a 1.5-litre format. Managed by sisters Anne and Catherine Parent, Domaine Parent is an historic estate with winemaking roots dating back to 1753, recognized for producing deeply concentrated, age-worthy red Burgundies under certified organic viticulture. Sourced from Les Epenots, Pommard's most revered Premier Cru parcel situated on gentle, well-drained slopes of deep iron-rich clay and limestone marl, the winemaking philosophy combines careful hand harvesting, native yeast fermentation, and extended barrel aging in French oak (approximately 40% to 50% new). Presented in a large format magnum bottle, this release offers superior aging potential, ensuring slow, graceful maturation and exceptional preservation of fruit density and aromatic complexity.
Wine Description
The wine presents a deep, clear dark garnet ruby purple colour with intense crimson reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly complex bouquet opens with rich aromas of dark red cherry, wild blackberry, black plum, and crushed cassis, interwoven with savory notes of violet, leather, forest floor, damp earth, sweet spices, and dark toasted oak. On the palate, it is full bodied, muscular, and concentrated, delivering generous flavours of black fruits, dark cherry, and mineral iron, all anchored by a vibrant, mouthwatering core of natural acidity. Framed by Les Epenots' characteristic broad, fine-grained Premier Cru tannins and an expansive mid-palate structure, it concludes with an exceptionally long, persistent finish marked by lingering dark fruit, spice, and stony mineral grip. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, this 2020 magnum release offers an optimal drinking window of 2030–2050+. Stylistically, it effortlessly marries the opulent concentration of the 2020 vintage with Pommard's classic power, longevity, and grand structural presence.
