Managed by Thibaut Marion, whose family has deep roots in Burgundian winemaking, Domaine Seguin Manuel was originally founded in 1824 and completely modernized following its acquisition in 2004 to emphasize certified organic viticulture, hand harvesting, and non-interventionalist winemaking. Sourced from old Pinot Noir vines planted on clay and limestone soils on gentle slopes in Mercurey, the winemaking philosophy combines complete destemming, native yeast fermentation, and barrel aging in French oak (approximately 15% to 20% new) for 10 to 12 months to craft a wine marked by sleek dark berry fruit, fine-grained tannin structure, and authentic southern Burgundian charm.

Wine Description

The wine presents a clear, deep dark ruby red colour with brilliant purple highlights along the rim. An expressive, complex bouquet opens with attractive aromas of ripe red cherry, wild raspberry, black plum, and crushed cranberry, interwoven with subtle notes of peony petals, subtle toasted oak, sweet baking spice, and damp earth. On the palate, it is medium bodied, sleek, and concentrated, delivering generous flavours of dark berries, red fruit curd, and mineral iron, all anchored by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by fine-grained, smooth old-vine tannins and a juicy mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, energetic finish marked by lingering red berry fruit, savory spice, and stony limestone grip. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, this 2022 release offers an optimal drinking window of 2025–2034.
